    About the Program


    Looking for an introductory session that covers the basics of planned giving?  Or maybe a refresher on planned giving strategies and how to talk about them with donors?  Then the Planned Giving Fundamentals program is for you!  The course offers an emphasis on learning the concepts and developing a conversational understanding of the technical topics so you can speak with confidence to donors and prospects.  If you are new to planned giving, need a refresher, or are a development generalist, this seminar will give you an overview of gift planning and the tools you need to make the most of it.  All attendees will receive a copy of Craig Wruck’s book Planned Giving in a Nutshell, 9th edition.

    • Those new to the field of planned giving
    • Major gift officers who need a working knowledge of planned giving
    • Annual gift officers who deal with important volunteers
    • Development generalists
    • Staff who support the planned giving efforts of your institution

    Summary and Objectives:

    • Participants will receive an overview of charitable gift planning basics, including the tax aspects of outright contributions and planned giving techniques
    • Emphasis will be on conceptual understanding and the ability to explain concepts to prospective donors in a clear and convincing way
    • Major topic areas will be: tax fundamentals, assets used for charitable contributions, and basic and advanced planned giving methods



     Meet Our Presenter





    Craig C. Wruck
    Senior Advisor, 
    PG Calc


    Craig Wruck’s experience in charitable giving spans more than 40 years in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations.  He has served at the University of Minnesota, Humboldt State University, Minnesota State University, and the Saint Paul Community Foundation.  In addition, he has worked for U.S. Trust Company, US Bank, and Kaspick & Company.  Craig currently serves as senior advisor at PG Calc.

    He is past president of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners and has served as a member of its board of directors and as chair of its government relations committee.  Craig is the author of Planned Giving in a Nutshell, a practical guide to planned giving for development generalists.  He earned his MBA from the University of St. Thomas and his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Utah.
